Jan 09, 2009: Serial Production of JF-17 starting soon: The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) would soon start serial production of JF-17 Thunder in collaboration with China according to Defense committee. PAC had the capability to manufacture 75 percent of avionics and 58 percent of air-frame of the fighter aircraft. Previously PAC had been overhauling engines and airframes. April 13th,07: JF-17s fly in Pakistani Skies; KLJ-7 Radar in first batch: Two JF-17s aircraft flew over Islamabad on 23rd March Parade. AFM reports that Nanjing KLJ-7 Radar will be installed in first 51 aircrafts. The aircraft will have Chinese avionics. PAF will continue to study Western Avionics. Pictures

Nov 23: Pakistan to Receive 8 JF-17s next year:  The first batch will  arrive next year and local manufacturing shall begin in January 2008. Two JF-17s are expected by 23rd March. Pakistan plans to produce 20-25 aircraft from 2008. The Aircraft costs less than $20 Million. Source


Nov 15: Klimov willing to participate actively; Simulator: Klimov, the Russian company which manufactures the engines powering FC-1 is not only willing to sell engines to Pakistan but is also promoting upgraded thrust vectored versions of the power plant for FC-1. Final Approval from Moscow still awaits. Beijing is optimistic Russia will allow re-export of the engines to Pakistan.  First Flight simulator of JF-17 was also unveiled in a Chinese Air show.
